PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass lens by mechanical working by which defects such as crack (craze), breaking and chipping are reduced. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a glass lens includes polishing processes S5, S10 for forming the surface shape of a lens surface by applying polishing onto a glass-made body to be processed and further includes a working process of carrying out one or more groups of preceding working process groups comprising a plurality of the preceding working processes of stepwisely working the body to be processed by applying relatively rougher working than the polishing process S5 (S10) before the polishing process S5 (S10) to form a surface to be polished for the polishing process S5 (S10) and heating processes S3, S8 for heating the body to be processed at a temperature≥0.7 times and≤one time the glass transition point of the body to be processed.
