PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate multi-feed and weighing of a recording medium by a cost-reduced construction, without increasing the size of a device. SOLUTION: A discrimination device includes an emitter 101 irradiating by switching ultrasonic waves having two or more different frequencies; a receiver 102 receiving the ultrasonic waves having the frequencies irradiated by the emitter 101; a multi-feed discrimination section 124 which, when the emitter 101 irradiates an ultrasonic wave at a first frequency with respect to a recording paper P, discriminates multi-feed of the recording paper P based on a signal received by the receiver 102; and a weighing discrimination section 125 which, when an ultrasonic wave of a second frequency different from the first frequency is irradiated to the recording paper P, discriminates the weighing of the recording paper P based on a signal received by the receiver 102.
