The method involves comparing route cost limits (g1-g4) and residual route costs (c1), which are transferred from an actual location (2) to a residual route along an actual route up to a time point (4). Inspection of rerouting is activated based on changes of traffic messages (5-8) stored in a traffic data storage device. The rerouting is suppressed for the traffic messages, which affect traffic problems of the actual route, and the route cost limits are larger than the residual route costs. The traffic messages stored in the storage device are changed.
