<p>The present invention provides for production and use of pharmaceutically- acceptable zinc nanoparticles having cores comprising elemental zinc without significant amounts of other metals or metal oxides. The use of these nanoparticles in cancer therapy and treatment of infection disease, along with medical imaging, is provided.</p>
