PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer configured to execute instructions of first and second instruction sets. SOLUTION: The program is coded by instructions of the first and second instruction sets, and uses first and second data storage conventions. A switch controls an instruction processor 100 to interpret each instruction under, alternately, the first or second instruction set as directed by the first flag value of the table entry corresponding to a memory page for the instruction in response to a first flag value stored in each table entry. A transition handler recognizes a time when program execution has transferred from a page of instructions using first data storage convention to a page of instructions using second data storage convention as indicated by a second flag value stored in the table entry corresponding to each page, and then adjusts a data storage structure of the computer from the first storage convention to the second data storage convention.
