PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment particle dispersion which contains particles of a small particle size, has a sharp peak in particle size distribution, is especially suitable for a color material of a color filter and improves contrast and light resistance of the color filter, and shows good dispersion property. SOLUTION: The pigment particle dispersion contains pigment particles and a compound represented by formula (I) (wherein Q represents an organic dye residue having an aromatic ring; A is an alkylene group, a phenylene group or a naphthylene group and optionally contains a substituent; Y is NR<SP>5</SP>, O or S; Z is an acidic residue shown by SO<SB>3</SB>H or CO<SB>2</SB>H; X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>, L<SP>1</SP>and L<SP>2</SP>are each independently a specific linking group; R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkylene group that optionally contains a substituent or a phenylene group that may optionally contain a substituent; and l, m and n are integers).
