<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thermal recording medium, which causes no streak-like defect in the flowing direction when applying and drying simultaneous multi-layer curtain coating on the support body with a coating liquid for a thermal recording layer containing a leuco dye and a color developer and with a coating liquid for at least one protective layer, thereby obtaining uniform printing quality, excellent productivity and a high quality thermal recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a thermal recording medium forms the thermal recording layer and a protective layer using a coating device including curtain heads provided at certain intervals and a guide sheet which sequentially laminates the coating liquid injected downward sequentially from each curtain head onto the slating surface while moving the coating liquid on the slating surface, and then transfers the coating liquid as coating liquid curtain from the downward curtain guide at the bottom end of the slating surface to the web surface. When the liquid temperature of the coating liquid for thermal recording layers is 25°C, the shear viscosity is 60 to 150 mPa s at the shear speed of 5,000 s<SP>-1</SP>, and the viscosity measured by the B-type viscometer is 400 to 1,200 mPa s. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
