<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein when excessive tension is generated in a lead-in wiring material, the tension may cause overrun of a cable pay out vehicle in the rearward direction (movement of significant distance), in executing cable pay out work with the cable pay out vehicle which is stopped away from a manhole. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for preventing overrun of the cable pay out vehicle is used for the cable pay out vehicle for leading in a wire material 9 from the manhole, by using a wire material lead-in means 2 and installing a cable 10 under the ground. The apparatus includes a vehicle movement detecting means 5 for detecting the time point, when the vehicle 1 starts movement if the vehicle 1 starts movement to the manhole during a wire material lead-in operation; and a controller 6 for emitting a stoppage signal, to the wire material lead-in means 2, upon receiving a detection signal from the vehicle movement detecting means 5.
