A computer input or pointing device (mouse) comprises a base resting upon a work surface, and a body. The body has a thumb support ledge 40 suitable for engagement by the tip of a thumb, and an opposed finger surface 16 for engagement by the tip of fingers. The thumb support ledge is 15 to 30mm above the base, and the space between the thumb and finger surface is between 8 and 40mm. The thumb (or rear) surface may be concave, and the finger (or front) surface may be convex. The mouse may taper inwardly towards the top. The device may switch between left and right-handed condition by use of a push button [fig. 4; 52]. The device may further include mouse buttons 42, 44. A scroll wheel 46 that rotates in a horizontal plane may be provided. Switch means to alter the resolution of a motion sensor of the mouse may be included.
