After the section 7a has been wound and leased the leasing rod 9 is pulled slightly to the left to prevent fouling of the warp during the winding of section 7b. Just before the last turn of section 7b the rod is pushed to the right to lease that section. A turned up portion 9a on the rod prevents premature removal thereof. The rod 9 is flexible so that it can move from inside the drum to be wound and two drive mechanisms are provided, one to move it to the right and a second one to move it slightly to the left. The leading end of the rod is slightly thicker than the remainder so that the major part of the rod is not tightly gripped by the wound warps. In a modification (Fig. 2) the warps can be shed by combs 14a..14f so that they can be leased in any sequence by a series of insertable leasing rods 13a. .13k.
