PURPOSE: A constant current type high voltage power supply applied to an image forming device and a method for controlling the power supply of the constant current type high voltage power supply are provided to protect inner devices in an abnormal contact or non-contact between an output terminal and a load. CONSTITUTION: A leakage current detector(140) detects a leakage current from at least one output terminal and outputs the detected leakage current. A DC voltage output unit(150) output different DC voltages according to the leakage current detected from the leakage current detector. A power controller(160) controls the power supply according to the outputted DC voltage.
