<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of protecting properly an occupant against the vehicle roll-over by actuating several sorts of protecting means simultaneously, or one after another in order to heighten the degree of occupant protection gradually, or changing the control pattern in accordance with the rolling condition of the vehicle body. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant protecting device of the vehicle is equipped with means 31, 51, 53 to sense the roll angle and the rolling angular velocity of the vehicle body, means 54, 55, 56, 58, 59 to work when the rolling angular velocity is equal to or over the level to result in rollover ineviatably and control so as to simultaneously actuate pretentioners for seat belts 60 and 61, those of air bags 62a, 62b, 63a, 63b mounted on both sides of each seat which are located at least in front of the rollover direction and air bags 66 and 67 mounted ahead of the seat, and the means 52, 55, 56, 58, 59 to work when the rolling angular velocity is below the level to result in rollover ineviatably and control so as to actuate one after another the pretentioners for the seat belts 60 and 61, those of the air bags 62a, 62b, 63a, 63b mounted on both sides of the seat which are located at least in front of the rollover direction and the air bags 66 and 67 mounted ahead of the seat. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
