摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve conventional problems in which if a machining nozzle accidentally collides with the chips of an upright workpiece when an oblique transfer of a retreating function is performed, off-center and machining head tilt take place to cause failures such as scratches on the machining nozzle, and in which the damage to the machining nozzle necessitates its replacement to increase in cost for the machining nozzle. <P>SOLUTION: In a machine having an electrostatic sensor for detecting distance between a workpiece and a machining nozzle with a capacitance, this machining apparatus takes in the electrostatic sensor data commonly used with the machining nozzle periodically at the time of oblique transfer of a retreating operation, and calculates a variation from the present and previous values of the sensor data. On the basis of the characteristics of the capacitance, the variation in the capacitance is positive usually in a direction receding from the workpiece, and changes into negative in approaching to the workpiece. Accordingly, taking variance of the electrostatic sensor into consideration, if the variation is negative over a certain prescribed time, it is discriminated as approaching to the workpiece, the machining head is risen in the Z-axis direction up to a retreat point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
