1340972 Flush mountable locks EASTERN CO 10 Jan 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 1050/72 Heading E2A A flush mountable lock comprises a sheet metal mounting member D having a recess R opening into its front side including first and second recess parts 22, 24 of different depths one of which 22 has a bottom wall part having an elongated narrow slot 10 therein, a bolt F slidably supported by a housing E attached to said mounting member and having an end portion normally projecting from the mounting member and a slot 14 aligned with said slot 10, spring means G biasing said bolt to a projected position with respect to said mounting member, a sheet metal handle H in said recess in said mounting member and having a substantially flat part 70 normally substantially flush with the front of said mounting member, means 76 pivotally connecting said handle for said mounting member adjacent to the end which said bolt projects, a metal trigger member T operatively connected to said handle and comprising a blade part 86 projecting through said slot 10 into the slot 14 and a key-operated lock mechanism L mounted on another bottom wall part of said recess and including means 106 for selectively preventing retractive movement of said bolt. In the construction shown the means 106 is a cam which can be disposed in the path of a member 62 which in turn engages the bolt; the handle has a flange 80 the end of which engages an abutment of the trigger member to rotate the trigger member to withdraw the bolt. The trigger member is pivoted on the means 76 by which the. handle is pivotally attached to the mounting member.
