A mounting system for weatherproof surfaces is disclosed. According to one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a solar panel. A mounting mechanism is in contact with the solar panel. A bracket is in contact with a surface to which the solar panel is installed. The mounting mechanism engages and disengages from the bracket without use of tools.
