1384631 Knitting machines FRANZ MORAT GmbH 21 Jan 1972 [21 Jan 1971 15 April 1971] 3070/72 Heading D1C A knitting machine has at least one patterning device comprising a plurality of discs 18, 19, 20 fixed on a shaft 15 parallel to the knitting needles and rotated in synchronism with the machine, the discs having pattern elements on their peripheries which cooperate with means controlling the operation of the knitting needles, the shaft being movable axially by a control device arranged to operate in at least one changing station zone where the means controlling the operation of the needles are modified to avoid co-operation with the patterning elements. As shown, pivoting jacks 2 associated with the needles are biassed outwardly by springs 5, the cylinder tricks being deeper in the jack area. A screw 12 is rotatable in steps and has steps I, II, III against which is biassed an axially displaceable shaft 14 which engages the lower end of shaft 15 at whose other end there is a spring-biassed pin 17. The pattern discs 18, 19, 20 on shaft 15 are separated by distances corresponding to the distances between steps I, II, III. A ring 32 keyed on shaft 15 so that the latter may slide axially while rotating is engaged by a driving wheel 27 rotated by engagement with a spring rod 28 which has kinks 28b to engage one disc 18, 19 or 20 at a time. Each disc has peripheral gaps 33 and lands 36 in accordance with the pattern and these have notches to ensure engagement with rod 28. At the changing station, where several spring rods are missing from just below kinks 28b upwards and all needles are selected or not selected. A pin 6 which rotates disc 8 is arranged at the beginning of the changing station. When a rod 28 engages a gap in a pattern disc the jack and needle butts engage track 38, 39 because they are lifted by cams 43, 44 but if a kink 28b engages a land 36, the rod is swung beyond the tip 37b of a cam 37 and runs further on the edge 37a of this cam and swings jack 2 inwards so that butt 2b slides along the inside of cam 43 without being lifted. Pattern wheels may be of plastics e.g. polyamides or an acetal resin or may be of metal and plastics combined.
|
