A cooling system for a spotlight, has a spotlight housing in which a light source mounting is arranged for receiving a light source and a reflector, which reflects the light given off by the light source to a light exit aperture of the spotlight housing. A convection cooling device (5) partly surrounds the light source for generating a convection flow which is derived from the heat from the light source.
