The invention discloses a tandem tractor and trailer system comprising a tractor (50) having a cab and a plurality of wheel units, each wheel unit having a mounted tire (54) and a tractor tire pressure measuring device (10); a first display unit (38) mounted within the cab of the tractor and operative to communicate to an operator of the tractor (50) a visible indicia of tractor tire inflation pressure status based upon pressure measurements of the tractor tire pressure measuring devices (10); a trailer (48) having a cargo containment body supported by a plurality of wheel units, each wheel unit having a mounted tire (52) and a trailer tire pressure measuring device (10); and a second display unit (76) externally mounted to the trailer (48) and operative to communicate to an operator of the tractor a visible indicia of trailer tire inflation pressure status based upon pressure measurements of the trailer tire pressure measuring devices.
