A holder 6 for an intraocular lens 2 incorporates a rail 7 to grip the lens and hold it facing an open side of the holder. It preferably has a rear section 8 on which are mounted forwardly extending arms 9,10 with guides 12,14 which slidingly support the rail. A finger grip 16 extends upwardly from the rear section of the holder. Positioning lugs 21-23 secure the holder when it is placed inside a transport container (28, figure 3). The guides 12,14 also engage with flaps (38,39 figure 6) that extend to cover a loading chamber (37, figure 7) on an injector (33, figure 8). The flaps engage with the edges of the lens. Retraction of the holder causes the flaps to close and thereby curl the lens (figure 21) for injection into the eye. |
