An agitator (1) for stirring a process media inside an enciosure (2) comprising: - a drive shaft (3), - a stirrer (4) suspended from the drive shaft (3), - means (5) for rotating the drive shaft, - a bearing arrangement (6) comprising at least one thrust bearing (7) and two radial bearings (8, 9) for holding the drive shaft (3) rotatably within the enciosure (2), wherein each bearing (7, 8, 9) is an electromagnetic bearing, and wherein the bearing arrangement (6) comprises active control means (16) and an enciosure (2) for such an agitator (1). |
