PURPOSE: A positioning system and a method thereof is provided to allow the user to determine the position of the ship as well as to use the electronic navigation system in case of navigation device malfunction. CONSTITUTION: A measuring device(100) generates the measurement values by measuring the angle of preset points. An electronic chart display and information system(230) displays the polygons on the electronic chart using the measured values, sets the intersection points using the polygons, and determines the position of the chip using the intersections.
