PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new food material which contains a complex of tryptophan and/or a highly peptide with high tryptophan content and hyaluronic acid and improves the function of the tryptophan having a sleep-inducing action, and to provide a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: The food material containing tryptophan-hyaluronic acid and the food material containing peptide with high tryptophan-content and hyaluronic acid are provided, where each is characterized by carbon-carbon bonding the 2-position of the indole ring of tryptophan to a reducing terminal at the 1-position of N-acetylglucosamine in hyaluronic acid.
