PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dehydrating method of sludge which controls scum acting as an obstacle during the dehydration process and which gives good workability thereto, and to provide a sludge dehydrating agent used for the dehydration method. SOLUTION: There are provided the sludge dehydrating agent containing: a polymer (a) having an amidine ring structure represented by formula (1) and/or (2); a cationic polymer (b) containing a unit of formula (3) of (A) group; an anionic polymer (c) containing a unit of formula (4) and/or (5); a nonionic polymer (d) containing a unit of formula (6); and an at least one polymer selected from an amphoteric copolymer (e-1) or (e-2), wherein the mass ratio of the polymer (a) and the polymer selected from the (A) group is 99:1 to 91:9, and also the dehydrating method of sludge using the sludge dehydrating agent.
