PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hemisphere united type composite metal nanoparticle made of silver and copper by an industrial raw material which can be easily obtained and a simple method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the hemisphere united type composite metal nanoparticle includes: a stage (1) where a mixture containing a silver compound and an organic solvent having a boiling point of≥150°C is heated so as to reduce the silver compound; and a stage (2) where a mixture containing a copper compound and an organic solvent having a boiling point of≥150°C is added to a mixture after the reduction reaction obtained in the stage (1) in an inert gas atmosphere in the range of 0.005 to 1.0 time by mole/min so as to reduce the copper compound. The composite metal nanoparticle is obtained by the use of the above production method and contains silver and copper, wherein, one composite metal nanoparticle is composed by uniting the hemisphere silver with hemisphere copper.
