PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting apparatus which has a simple construction, can realize improved workability and safety, and can also contribute to space saving at a site of work. SOLUTION: A cutting apparatus 10 includes a rotary cutter 12 that is clamped on the outer circumference of a buried existing pipe W, is pressed in a radial direction of the existing pipe W, and is rotated along the outer circumference to cut the existing pipe W, and a rotary mechanism 14 that rotates the rotary cutter 12. The rotary cutter 12 includes a plurality of cutting edges 24 and a plurality of rod-like cutting operation lugs 26. The rotary mechanism 14 includes a working arm 30 that operates a cutting operation lug 26 and rotates the rotary cutter 12, and a hydraulic cylinder 34 that imparts rotative force to a working arm 30 through a link portion 32. When a piston rod 34A in the hydraulic cylinder 34 is moved by one stroke, the working arm 30 is rotated in such a state that the cutting operation lug 26 is locked in locking portions 98a, 98b thereof.
