PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring device by which high monitoring accuracy can be obtained with less burden. SOLUTION: The monitoring device 100 uses a sensor 110 which detects a moving object with a predetermined area as an object and monitors the moving object, and includes: a detection likelihood estimated value management part 150 which stores the estimated value of detection likelihood of the sensor 110 to be used for monitoring; an object likelihood calculation part 170 which calculates object likelihood showing likelihood that the moving object is present in the predetermined area from the detection result of the sensor 110; a non-detection area update determination part 180 which determines whether or not update of the estimated value of the detection likelihood that the detection likelihood estimated value management part 150 stores is necessary on the basis of comparison between the estimated value of the detection likelihood that the detection likelihood estimated value management part 150 stores and the object likelihood that the object likelihood calculation part 170 calculates; and a notification part 190 which notifies a determination result by the non-detection area update determination part 180.
