PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of detecting a reset defect of an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) source device by an HDMI sync device. SOLUTION: An electronic device includes: an HDMI receiver for receiving TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling) signals from an external HDMI source device, detecting the presence/absence of a TMDS clock from the TMDS signals, and outputting the detection result; and a microcomputer for inputting the detection result outputted from the HDMI receiver, and determining the presence/absence of the TMDS clock from the inputted detection result. After switching to a connection with the HDMI source device, the electronic device functions as the HDMI sync device using the TMDS signals when the microcomputer determines that the inputted detection result is the presence of the TMDS clock, and does not function as the HDMI sync device when the microcomputer determines that the inputted detection result is the absence of the TMDS clock.
