The present disclosure includes an apparatus (100) for performing a surgical procedure. The apparatus (100) comprises:
an elongated tube (102) having a distal end;
a drive rod (104);
a spring connected to the driver rod (104); and
a surgical patch (10).
The bag contains the spring (112) and the surgical patch (10) in a relatively straight position within the elongated tube (102) such that when the drive rod (104) is advanced, the spring (112) connected thereto exits the distal end of tube (102) and resiliently opens, thereby deploying and opening the bag (60) to allow access to the surgical patch (10).
Further, a method for in situ application of the surgical patch (10) during minimally invasive surgery is disclosed. |
