<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly economical method of manufacturing lithium hydroxide which is effective for stably securing it when needed from a lithium source capable of domestic storage while lithium hydroxide is produced overseas because it is unable to be stored for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: In this method of manufacturing lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate is supplied in a salt chamber, carbonated water which can be used to dissolve lithium carbonate is repeatedly taken out from an acid chamber and an aqueous solution of lithium hydroxide is taken out from an alkali chamber, using an electrodialysis unit having a structure in which a cation exchange membrane and an anion exchange membrane are alternately arranged between an anode and a cathode, and which has at least one combination of the acid chamber, the salt chamber, the alkali chamber and a water electrolysis chamber arranged next to the anode chamber separated by the anode and the cation membrane, and a cathode chamber which is made into an electrolysis chamber structured with the anion membrane nearest to the cathode, but separated by the cathode instead of the cation membrane. This manufacturing method is further attached with a refining process for making the product high purity. This invention provides a highly useful and versatile method of manufacturing lithium hydroxide capable of cleanly and simply manufacturing lithium hydroxide when needed from lithium carbonate which can be stored in Japan. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
