PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which predicts printing time by taking into consideration the difference of printing speed on an engine side depending on an image drawing area. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image drawing area calculating means which interprets an image drawing command for every one page of printing data and calculates the image drawing area of each region drawn by the image drawing command; a weighting means which performs weighting to the image drawing area of each region calculated by the area calculating means using a predetermined value for each kind of the image drawing command; a predicted time calculating means which calculates printing processing predicted time for one page of the printing data based on a time predicting table to which the printing processing predicted time being a predicted time to be needed for one page of the printing data corresponds in accordance with the size of the total image drawing area within one page of the printing data, and the total image drawing area being the total of the image drawing areas of respective regions weighted by the weighting means by referring to the time predicting table; and an outputting means which outputs data showing the printing processing predicting time calculated by the predicting time calculating means to a specified outputting destination.
