PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device or the like for measuring axial force of a rail measuring the axial force of a rail without disengaging the rail of an actual trajectory in a natural state or cutting the rail on the spot. SOLUTION: The rail axial force measuring device 1 includes: a shaker 3 mounted to a side face of the rail 7 and vibrating the rail 7 at a prescribed frequency; a receiver 5 mounted at a position differing from that of the shaker 3 on another side face of the rail 7 to detect a vibration state of the rail 7; and an analysis-calculation device 6 that finds a natural frequency to a prescribed vibration mode of the rail 7 based on data on the vibration state output from the receiver 5, and calculates the axial force of the rail 7, based on a correspondence between the axial force of the rail 7 obtained beforehand and the natural frequency to the prescribed vibration mode of the rail 7.
