PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support system that enables a driver to recognize his own habits and improve the habits. SOLUTION: A control unit obtains vehicle information showing the condition of own vehicle during driving and evaluates the vehicle information about predetermined evaluation items, thereby diagnosing driving characteristics (habits) showing the driving operation tendency of the driver. The habits are cumulatively stored so as to set an advice-requiring area that is a predetermined area including the peak value of a habit distribution. If the current diagnostic results are within this area II, that is, if a habit to be improved is repeatedly performed during a driving operation, advice for improving the habit is reported.
