<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing refractory bricks from a low temperature detoxified substance of an asbestos-containing substance as a raw material, and refractory bricks manufactured by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing refractory bricks includes: a detoxification process of an asbestos-containing substance including heat-treating at a low oxygen environment or a reduction environment the asbestos-containing substance with incineration ash or a catalyst prepared from the incineration ash; and a process of manufacturing the refractory bricks from an obtained detoxified asbestos-containing substance as a raw material.
