PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectangular excavator used for a jacking method, capable of surely correcting rolling of the boring machine body even in a ground with less supporting force. SOLUTION: The rolling correcting device includes an excavator body 10 where a cutter for excavating ground in rectangular cross section is provided at the front part of a shell whose cross section is rectangular, a hood 20 of a rectangular cross section which is provided at the front end of the shell of the excavator body 10 for free rotation toward outer periphery, an adapter 30 which is provided at the rear end of the shell of the excavator body 10 for free rotation toward outer periphery, a box of a rectangular cross section which is connected to the adapter 30, hydraulic right and left jacks 23 and 33 for rotating the hood 20 and the adapter 30, and a rolling detector for detecting inclination of the excavator body 10 in outer peripheral direction. When the rolling detector detects rolling during excavation, the hydraulic jacks 23 and 33 arranged vertically or horizontally are pressurized to relative directions, so that the attitude of the hood 20 and the adapter 30 are rotated to restore to a horizontal attitude.
