PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external facing material for construction and a coating liquid for building external facing capable of achieving high degree of photocatalyst gas decomposition activities even when coating external facing surfaces by thickness of 2μm or more to prevent the enamel painted surface and the clear painted surface from being deteriorated. SOLUTION: This external facing material for construction includes a photocatalyst layer on a surface of a basic material. The photocatalyst layer is formed by applying the coating liquid for building external facing and then drying it. The coating liquid for building external facing contains particles of photocatalytic titanium oxide, particles of niobium oxide, and hardening silicone emulsion. The particle of photocatalytic titanium oxide is partially covered or modified by a substance having hydrophobic group.
