PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vending machine that is applicable even to machines already shipped or installed and reduces the loss of selling opportunity. SOLUTION: The vending machine includes an outer door 10 that constitutes a front surface and has at least two window parts 21 and 22 for mounting a paper money insertion section 14 into which paper money is inserted, and a fluorescent lamp 20 for illuminating a region corresponding to sale in the outer door 10. The vending machine sells articles stored inside when the machine itself is in a sellable state and has a desired selling condition. The vending machine also includes a display member 30 that has a built-in light source 34, is arranged so that the own display surface 321 can be viewed from the front surface through the window part 22, turns on the light source 34 when at least the fluorescent lamp 20 is turned off and the sellable state is provided, and displays a display object shown on the display surface 321.
