PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater improving convenience of a user by maximizing hot water supply capacity while securing corrosion resistance in an erosion-corrosion phenomenon. SOLUTION: The water heater includes a heat exchanger, an inflow water temperature sensor and a flow control valve. The inflow water temperature sensor and flow control valve are arranged on the inflow side of hot water of the heat exchanger. Based on the temperature of the hot water sensed by the inflow water temperature sensor, a flow rate of hot water made to flow in the heat exchanger is increased/decreased by the flow control valve. When the inflow water temperature is a certain temperature α or lower, along with increase in the inflow water temperature, the amount of hot water made to flow in the heat exchanger is increased to become not less than an upper limit flow rate B capable of preventing the erosion-corrosion phenomenon. When the inflow water temperature exceeds the certain temperature α, along with increase in the inflow water temperature, the amount of hot water made to flow in the heat exchanger is decreased to the upper limit flow rate B capable of preventing the erosion-corrosion phenomenon.
