PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and image sharing system, which allow a person browsing a photographed image uploaded from a digital camera to recognize the details of a digital camera operating situation from the Internet in real time, and also allow the browsing person to easily transmit a message to a digital camera of an image transmission source and which allow a photographer to communicate with the browsing person over the Internet. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with: a presence information generating means 212 for generating presence information indicating a present state of the imaging apparatus (101); an image file generating means (200) for generating an image file in which a message and the presence information are embedded in image data; and a communication means (241) for exchanging the image file with an image sharing service system which provides an image sharing service.
