PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial inkjet recorder and its control method, which improves memory occupancy as a bottleneck attaining high speed, high density and multi-coloring of the recorder. SOLUTION: A recording head is divided into a plurality of driving blocks. A random mask pattern is compressed in checking with the pattern thinned out for every divided driving block. The compressed random mask pattern is stored in a memory. The random mask pattern is read out in accordance with the recording operation and decompressed, and then used as the mask pattern of image data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
