An elongated catheter device for irradiating tissue surrounding a body site within a patient includes a treatment location on a distal portion of the elongated catheter device. An elongated flexible shaft is formed at least in part of a low durometer polymeric material and has at least one radiation lumen extending within a portion of the elongated flexible shaft formed of the low durometer polymeric material to the treatment location and is configured to receive a radiation source. A deposited coating of a high durometer polymeric material and a starch particulate is located on a lumen surface of the at least one radiation lumen to provide improved frictional characteristics in the at least one radiation lumen.
