PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that a conventional separation pad type sheet feeder is liable to generate double feed in which a plurality of sheets are carried at a time and a separation roller type sheet feeder is highly expensive because its size cannot be reduced. SOLUTION: The separation pad of this sheet feeder includes a friction member having a flexible part bent when pressed by a fed sheet. The friction member has increased rigidity by using a combination of elastic members of different materials, and achieves adequate rigidity while selecting the members having high friction coefficients.
