Low-bark wood fibers having a bark fraction of less than 2% by weight, preferably for pelletization, have a length of 2-10 mm and a thickness of 0.5-3 mm. In order to produce them, chips are first dried and comminuted, whereupon the bark fractions are largely separated. The drying is carried out in a packing, which is turned continuously or discontinuously, preferably at a material temperature of 45-70°C, the comminution is carried out in a hammer mill having special screen inserts. The bark fractions are separated off in a screen which acts in two dimensions. The pellets can also be used as a filler for plastics. |
