A cell switching method and apparatus is disclosed. The method includes: a network side obtains cell information of one or more candidate cells while performing cell switching, wherein an identifier for indicating whether the candidate cells corresponding to the cell information support voice services over adaptive multi-user orthogonal sub channels (VAMOS) is contained in the cell information; and the network side determines a target cell for switching from one or more candidate cells according to the identifier. The method optimizes the network resource and improves the frequency spectrum utilization ratio.
