<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner position detecting means which detects a toner position by using a toner pattern smaller than before, and contributes to downsizing of an image forming apparatus and reduction of toner consumption. <P>SOLUTION: An irradiation means is configured by arranging M (≥3) light emitting parts for emitting detecting light in one direction crossing a sub direction so as to irradiate an image carrier member with M spots of detecting light. A light receiving means has N (≥3) light receiving parts corresponding to the irradiation means so as to receive reflected light of the detecting light, and arranged in one direction to face the image carrier member. At least two toner patterns TP<SB>1</SB>and TP<SB>2</SB>are arranged at an arrangement interval Lt in the direction orthogonal to the sub direction, and the arrangement interval Lt between the toner patterns is larger than an arrangement interval Ls between the light receiving parts in the direction orthogonal to the sub direction on the image carrier member, and is not the integer multiple of the arrangement interval Ls. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
