<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make uniform utilization of a plurality of recording media, regarding an imaging apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An image dividing part 11 divides an image captured by an input part 10 into a plurality of regions within a screen. Encoders 12, 22, 32, 42 encode image data in the regions divided by the image dividing part 11. Code amount calculation parts 13, 23, 33, 43 calculate amounts of codes generated by the encoding parts 12, ..., 42. Region identification signal adding parts 14, 24, 34, 44 add region identification signals to headers of output codes from the encoding parts 12, ..., 42, respectively. Recording code amount calculation parts 15, 25, 35, 45 calculate amounts of codes to be recorded on recording media 16, 26, 36, 46.
