PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool for metal machining and a holder that are suitable for using in the latest NC lathe (the numerically controlled lathe), to provide a cutting tool that is a substitute for a plurality of conventional tools, and to provide a stable holder. SOLUTION: A cutting tool 10 includes a holder 11 and at least two milling inserts 12A-12D. The holder 11 has a plurality of insert pockets 17 in order to receive the milling inserts 12A-12D. The milling inserts are mounted to the holder 11 so that the outermost peripheral part of a cutting insert with respect to the central axis-line (CL) of the holder is located almost on a circle (C). The circle (C) constitutes the diameter of the cutting tool 10. The cutting tool 10 further includes at least one lathe-turning insert 13-16, provided in order to execute other machining, other than the milling inserts.
