PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder stably feeding the sheets having a high friction coefficient between sheets and high rigidity, and to provide an image forming device and a sheet separating method for the sheet feeder. SOLUTION: A driving motor M is used for rotating a pickup roller 51, and a drive transmitting part 2c is provided between the driving motor M and the pickup roller 51 to transmit the drive power of the driving motor M to the pickup roller 51. During feeding sheets, the driving motor or the drive transmitting part 2c provides intermittent drive to the pickup roller 51 to be repetitively driven and stopped to gradually deflect the sheets S1 between separating pawls 101, 102.
