<p>A distribution system (1C) includes a server device (801) and a client device (802). The server device (801) transmits media data having one content encoded at one of multiple different media rates to the client device (802). The client device (802), while receiving the media data, stores received data among the media data in a storage device, and reproduces the content on the basis of the stored data. The distribution system (1C) outputs a set of a transmission rate and the media rate on the basis of a target function where the transmission rate indicating the amount of media data transmitted per unit time by the server device (801) and the media rate are variables. The server device (801) transmits the media data encoded at the selected media rate at the selected transmission rate.</p> |
