The container (1) has a container casing (2), ellipsoid shaped base (3), and a support ring (4) for fastening an intermediate base e.g. funnel base, to inner side of the container. The support ring comprises construction units e.g. beams (5a, 5b, 5c) and thrust rings (6a, 6b), which transmits weight forces of the support ring and the intermediate base to the ellipsoid shaped base. The intermediate base is supported by the support ring for supporting a structured packing or random packing.
