<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure good cold start performances of an exhaust system (20) and prevent emission of nitrogen oxides especially when a method proposed for operating the exhaust system (20). <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a supporting body (1) comprising an adsorber material (2) for adsorbing nitrogen oxides of an exhaust gas, which is produced in at least one combustion chamber (3) of an internal combustion engine (4), and to an operating method of an internal combustion engine (4) that is equipped with an exhaust system (20) having a supporting body (1) of the type.
